What you'll end up with
Every Monday morning, a short email with the five things from your sector's feeds that actually matter, each one linked to its source.
Why n8n for this
n8n charges per execution, meaning one full run of a workflow however many steps it has (n8n pricing). A weekly brief is about 4–5 executions a month, so a ten-step workflow costs the same as a two-step one. n8n's page says the Cloud trial includes 1,000 executions and needs no credit card, and that hosted data is stored in Frankfurt.
Steps
Choose 3–6 RSS feeds for your sector, such as trade press or competitor blogs.
Schedule Trigger node: weekly, Monday 07:00, with the timezone set to Europe/London.
RSS Read nodes: one per feed, then merge them.
Filter to items from the last 7 days.
AI step: n8n plans include AI/agent nodes (n8n pricing). Prompt:
Prompt Summarise into five bullet points that matter to a UK [sector] business. Link every item. Say 'nothing important' if that's true.
Email node: send it to yourself only.
Run it manually once, read the output critically, then activate it.
What can go wrong
Watch out for
- Feeds change or break. Add an error workflow, or check the brief arrived.
- The AI can over-hype dull news. Ask for a "skip" section.
- Self-hosting is free (the Community Edition is on GitHub) but makes you responsible for updates and security. See our Cloud vs self-hosted comparison.
